When registering in a Spanish course, applying for a job or to a university, it is key to know your linguistic competence level. Therefore, we invite you to have your Spanish competence assessed. The results of this assessment will let you know about the language skills you need to improve. Your Spanish competence can be assessed in two ways:
• On line (Internet)
• Face to face
The Spanish as a Foreign Language Program at Universidad de Concepción certifies the level of competence and mastery of Spanish in keeping with the Common European Framework of Referente for Languages. Certification is given for the following levels:

A2: The student can understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance (e.g. very basic personal and family information, shopping, local geography, employment).
B1: The student can understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc., deal with most situations likely to arise whilst travelling in an area where the language is spoken, produce simple connected text on topics, which are familiar, or of personal interest.
B2: The student can understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in his/her field of specialisation, interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party, produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options.
C1: The student can understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts, and recognise implicit meaning, express him/herself fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions, use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes.
C2: The student can understand with ease virtually everything heard or read, summarise information from different spoken and written sources, reconstructing arguments and accounts in a coherent presentation.
Assessment is carried out in online and face to face modalities. Internet modality covers written and spoken comprehension and written and oral production.
Face to face assessment is carried out once the student is registered in the Spanish as a Foreign Language Program at Universidad de Concepción (ELE-UdeC).
